Government finally gives in to social pressure 3 workingdays before deadline

Spanish tax returns deadlines for 2T have been postponed one month -UPDATED-

31 / Mar

This is to inform all our clients that the deadline for some of the Spanish tax returns are suspended for one month, until 20 May 2020. Some weeks back we informed our clients that these deadlines would apply despite the lockdown, but Government has changed their mind just 3 working days before these deadlines. Obviously, we had already filed mayority of the tax declarations for our clients. We could not risk it.

Consult here the official calendar of the Spanish Hacienda, or find below a summary of most common tax obligations for private persons, both Residents and Non Residents for upcoming quarter 2T 2020.

Also self-employed and companies must file their regular tax returns. If your accounts are done by our office there is nothing to worry about. We will take of this.

Although the lockdown is not a reason to not file your tax returns, there are possibilities to apply for a postponed payment in certain ocasions due to the Corona situation. You can read more about it in the article on the ‘Corona files’. Let us know in time if you wish for us to arrange it.

Be aware, if you wish to make use of direct debit to pay the taxes from your Spanish bankaccount, the deadlines are normally 5 days shorter.
